County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 11:26 p.m. Cameron Patrick Manor, 34, Petersburg, Mich., was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

• At 6:32 p.m. Jakob Willis Wireman, 18, Danville, was housed at the jail for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 4:20 p.m. Nicole C. Izaguirre, 45, Cloverdale, was booked in on a local traffic warrant.

• At 2:07 a.m. Norman Eli Clampitt, 53, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for driving with a BAC of .08 or more and driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

• At 2:41 p.m. Chandler Ray Hyten, 22, Fillmore, was taken into custody for possession of a lookalike substance, possession of paraphernalia and resisting law enforcement.

City Police

A Labor Day weekend traffic accident investigated by Greencastle City Police officers resulted in one arrest, one citation and an estimated $2,500-$5,000 in property damage.

The 10:08 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 accident on U.S. 231, south of State Road 240, resulted in the arrest of Jessica Holsapple, 42, Bloomington, for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Officer Luke Brown reported that Holsapple was northbound, driving a 1998 Pontiac Gran Am and approaching traffic stopped for the stoplight at Veterans Memorial Highway.

Holsapple, who was ultimately lodged in the Putnam County Jail after a visit to Putnam County Hospital, admitted she was trying to attach her phone to the car’s dashboard and was unaware traffic in font of her was stopping until it was too late to avoid a collision.

Her car struck the rear of a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic, driven by Candace Couch, 49, Spencer, pushing it into the rear of a 2014 Ford Fusion, driven by Barrett Stone, 18, Elkhart.

Couch was ticketed for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Two additional traffic citations were written by GPD officers.

• At 1:19 p.m. Tuesday, Donika Mathews, 31, Danville, was ticketed for speeding by Capt. Chris Jones.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Mathews was cited for 51 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Mathews was also cited for driving with a suspending license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 8:27 p.m. on Monday, Shirley Alexander, 68, Coatesville, was eastbound on Crown Point Drive in a 2012 Ford Escape when she hit a deer.

Deputy Tanner Brown estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three recent dispatches:

•At 6:31 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:35 and determined that the alarm was activated due to cooking. The alarm was then reset.

GFD left at 6:43 p.m.

•At 10:47 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 508 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:51 but could not determine how the alarm was activated. The alarm was then reset.

GFD left at 10:58 p.m.

•At 12:09 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 208 E. Olive St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:14 and determined that the alarm was activated due to hairspray. The alarm was then reset.

GFD left at 12:25 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed two medical assists during this time.
