PREP ROUNDUP: Lady Tiger Cubs get win over Southmont

NEW MARKET — Greencastle’s girls’ soccer team traveled to Southmont on Thursday and got a rally that provided a much-needed 2-1 win for the Lady Tiger Cubs over the defending sectional champions.

“The team worked very hard to maintain possession, give combinations for passing, and take shots against their opponents,” Greencastle coach Angie Weeks said.

Erin Thomas scored both goals for the Cubs, with assists by Kennedy Trigg and Neva Brown.

Goal keeper Claire Gillen had 10 total saves.

The Cubs (4-3) play at Cascade today.

In other soccer:

• Northview 2, Greencastle 0 (girls) — The Knights got a shutout win over the Cubs in action on Aug. 30.

The defensive lineup was led by Claire Gillen’s 14 saves.

Greencastle fell to 1-1 in the Western Indiana Conference with the defeat.

Volleyball

• Parke Heritage 3, North Putnam 1 — North Putnam came out fighting in the first set, winning 25-22, but lost to the Wolves in four sets.

Parke Heriage bounced back to win the final three set by scores of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-17.
