59th annual Fillmore Chicken Barbecue this weekend

With the distinctive big chicken appearing along the roadside on Indianapolis Road at the Fillmore Road turnoff, Putnam County people know it's time again for the annual Fillmore Chicken Barbecue.

FILLMORE -- The 59th annual Fillmore Chicken Barbecue is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21-22.

The Fillmore Volunteer Fire Department will be offering its traditional barbecue chicken and all the trimmings with serving starting at 5 p.m. on Friday and at noon Saturday.

Saturday will feature the annual Fillmore parade at 1 p.m. with a flea market slated both days.

The bloodmobile will be on site from 2-6 p.m. Saturday.

A Stat Flight emergency helicopter will make a demonstration landing at 3 p.m., weather permitting.
