Thomas Dale Nelson

Thomas Dale Nelson, 71, of Douglasville, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018.

He was born Nov. 21, 1946 in Greencastle, Ind.

Mr. Nelson was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country during the Vietnam War.

He retired from UPS after more than 30 years of service.

Mr. Nelson loved spending time with his grandchildren, loved his Harley-Davidsons and enjoyed riding with his buddies.

He was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Nelson; and his parents, Francis Dale and Margaret Thomas Nelson.

He is survived by his daughters, Shauna Nelson Sims, Brandy (Billy) Nelson Martin and Misty (Mike) Nelson Wood; sister Linda (Don) Mundy; brother Johnny (Brenda) Nelson; brother-in-law Art Kidney; three grandchildren, Katie Sims, J.T. Corbitt and Allie Martin; one great-granddaughter, London Sims; many nieces and nephews, as well as other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 5-8 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23 at Ephesus Baptist Church, 8445 Ephesus Church Rd., Villa Rica, Ga. Interment will follow at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.
