The two young women reportedly loaded the cart with such items as pots and pans, toilet paper, dishes, blankets, candles, Halloween decorations, a pumpkin-carving kit, a laundry basket, baby bottles, paper plates, a muffin pan, baby food, a shower curtain, slippers, a knife set, jug of water, sippy cups, Friskies cat food and beef jerky.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 7:28 p.m. on Sunday, Donna Jones, 69, Westfield, was westbound on U.S. 36 in a 2006 Mercury Milano.

Jones was traveling uphill and told Deputy Tanner Brown that the sun was in her eyes just over the peak of the hill. The sun’s glare blinded her and she started swerving in her lane, ending up in the ditch on the north side of the road.

A witness was following Jones’ vehicle and agreed that the sun’s glare made it hard for him to see.

Upon Brown’s arrival, Jones was complaining of head and shoulder pain and was vomiting. She was taken from the scene by ambulance.

The vehicle was towed. Brown estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.
