Betty Kocher Underwood

Betty Kocher Underwood, 97, of Indian Lake Estates, Fla., passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at Lake Wales Medical Center.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1920 in Greencastle to the late Mark C. and Velma (Crawley) Kocher and she has been a resident of the Indian Lake Estates area since 1948, moving here from Indiana.

She was a clerical clerk of the Broward County Elementary, bookkeeper and a homemaker.

Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Indian Lake Estates, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Underwood Jr., in 1980 and her son, Charles R. Underwood III, in 2013.

Survivors include her niece, Phyllis Wagner of Spencer, and nephew, Mark "Bud" Kocher of Indianapolis.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the Indian Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Kantz officiating.

Interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.

Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
