The Putnam County Youth Development Commission is requesting the public’s support for its 19th annual Coats for Kids campaign.

Boxes have been delivered to schools and businesses and have been ready for donations since Monday, Oct. 1.

PCYDC is looking for new or gently used coats of all sizes from infants all the way through teen years. Hats and gloves or mittens are also needed.

Coats that are damaged or need dry cleaned should not be donated.

Donations will be accepted at the Putnam County Schools until Friday, Oct 12. and at the following Putnam County Businesses until Friday, Oct. 19: Ivy Tech Community College, TCU, Kroger, Greencastle City Hall, Putnam County Public Library, Putnam Count Hospital, Putnam County Extension Office, Jack’s Trash, Old National Bank and the Youth Development Commission office.

Distribution day is Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Harris Hall at the Putnam County Fairgrounds. Remember that all children must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent or guardian.

There are a number of organizations whose generosity makes this annual outreach possible. On behalf of the many children in Putnam County who are served by this annual event, PCYDC would like to thank Putnam County Homemakers Extension Club, United Way of Putnam County, Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, Kroger, Ray’s Trash Service, Ascena Retail, DePauw University Printing Services and all Putnam County Schools.
