Theater group in holiday mode

Friday, October 5, 2018

Silver Linings Players will present their version of “The Gift of the Magi,” from the short story by O. Henry at nursing homes in and around Putnam County this holiday season.

Bill Wieland plays William Sydney Porter, aka O. Henry, with Martha Wharton cast as Della Young. Bob Jefferson takes the part of James Dillingham Young.

Minor characters are played by various Silver Linings actors.

Lenora Bowlby plays her mountain dulcimer at various scene changes within the script.

After the performance, cast and audience will sing Christmas carols that O. Henry might have heard during his lifetime (1862-1910). Those who are able will walk the halls, caroling for all residents within the facility.

The public is invited to this Christmas “gift” from Silver Linings.
