Men at Work

Trying to stay ahead of the weather and address pavement issues along city streets before the snow flies, a crew from the Greencastle Department of Public Works tackles some patching work along Indianapolis Road near Kentwood Drive. That section of Indianapolis Road -- from Franklin Street to Percy Julian Drive -- is due for major reconstruction in a project expected to begin in the spring. The project will widen that section of East Side roadway to three lanes, add improved drainage and better site lines as well as constructing sidewalks along both sides of the street. Preliminary work, such as moving utility lines, could commence still this fall, weather permitting.
