Tyler 'Steve' Andrew Layne

Tyler "Steve" Andrew Layne, 18, of Brazil, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born Feb. 17, 2000 in Clay County, the son of Thomas Layne and Karrie McClelland. He attended Van Buren Elementary School, North Clay Middle School and was a senior at Northview High School. He had been active with sports at North Clay and Northview, participating in football and wrestling. He was an enthusiastic supporter of all sports at NHS. He was a friend to all and was always the life of any event.

Tyler attended the Brazil United Pentecostal Church in Brazil.

Tyler was given the nickname "Steve" by a friend and the name stuck. Even teachers called him Steve and family joined in with the name as well.

He is survived by his loving family, his mother, Karrie Kunkler and his stepdad Brian of Greencastle; brothers Waylon Layne, Connor Layne, Matt Kunkler and Garret Kunkler; his father Thomas Layne; nephews Owen Layne and Preston Layne; and a niece, Addy Kunkler; grandparents Robert and Connie McClelland, John and Marla Keller and Judith Gouchanower and Benjamin Kunkler and his wife Karen; many aunts and uncles and other extended family and a large group of friends.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Geneva Reese and grandfathers Virgil Layne and Robert Cox.

Services will be take place Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil, with Pastor Anthony Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. and again Tuesday prior to services.
