Joan Arnold Veazey

Joan Arnold Veazey, 89, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Oct. 25 at Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive, Amarillo, TX 79109. Viewing was Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the funeral home.

Burial will be Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. at Fillmore Cemetery in Fillmore, Ind.

Joan was born May 19, 1929 in Greencastle to Ezra and Worth Arnold.

Joan worked at Greencastle Production and Credit in Indiana before moving to Amarillo in 1952.

She married Alvis M. Veazey on Aug. 17, 1957 in Amarillo.

Joan worked for Amarillo National Bank and First American Bank as a commercial loan officer. She went on to be vice president of lending before retiring on Dec. 31, 2005 at 76 years of age.

Joan was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo. She belonged to the Amarillo Symphony Guild, Amarillo Art Museum and Amarillo Art Force and the Timbercreek Canyon Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Veazey in September; her parents; sisters Imogene Scobee, Waneta McMains and Joyce Girton; and brother, Bobby Arnold.

Joan is survived by sisters Wilma Wallace and Shirley Whitley; brother Jimmie Arnold and Al's cousin, Tracy Ball and wife Teresa.
