Gerald Boyd 'Jerry' Clark

Gerald Boyd "Jerry" Clark, age 79, quietly passed away in Greencastle on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018.

Jerry was born in Greencastle on Sept. 22, 1939 and was a 1957 graduate of Fillmore High School, where he participated on the basketball and track teams.

Upon graduation, Jerry attended Indiana State University where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in both chemistry and mathematics.

Jerry then moved to Chicago where he started his career with The Sherwin Williams Company and obtained his Master's in Business Administration from Roosevelt University.

Jerry was a chemist and an inventor for Sherwin Williams before entering management and grew to establish himself as the youngest plant manager in the company's history. He went on to become a successful executive with Sherwin Williams, and moved across the country with his loving family throughout his 25 years at the company. Jerry continued to prosper in the chemical industry with other companies, and at the age of 55, took early retirement and settled down with his wife in the mountains of North Carolina.

Jerry was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 45 years, caring father and grandfather. He loved spending time with family, was an active member of the church, enjoyed golfing, working outdoors and always wanted to lend a helping hand to others.

Jerry is survived by his two children, Kristin Renner (Aaron), Sunbury, Ohio, and Scott Clark (Jeannie), Rochester, N.Y.; his five grandchildren, Taylor, Max and Jack Renner and Lauren and William Clark; a niece and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Dewell Clark; his wife, Donna June Clark; his first wife, Betty Clark; and his sister, Carolyn Shirley Birt.

A private graveside memorial service will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Palmer-Smith of Fillmore United Church officiating.

Jerry had a smile, sense of humor and charm that warmed the hearts of those around him. We will always carry his memory close within us.
