Silver Linings offers ‘gift’ to the community

Monday, November 19, 2018

Throughout this holiday season, Silver Lining Players, the senior readers’ theater, will be bringing their play, “Gift of the Magi,” a retelling of O. Henry’s classic short story, to nursing homes in Putnam and Clay counties.

They will also be performing at the Putnam County Public Library. The Dec. 11 library offering is unique in that after the play, the group will lead the audience in singing some of the old beautiful Christmas carols O. Henry may have heard during his lifetime.

The public is invited to every performance to sing and walk the halls -- an old-fashioned Christmas caroling experience. Church and school choirs are especially welcome.

The Silver Liners meet every first and third Monday at the Putnam County Museum, 1105 N.Jackson St., Greencastle, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

New members are always welcome.

The scheduled is:

Nov. 29 -- 2 p.m. Summerfield, Cloverdale.

Dec. 4 -- 1:30 p.m., Asbury Towers, Greencastle.

Dec. 6 -- 2 p.m. Exceptional Living Center of Brazil.
