The 6:30 p.m. program is free and open to the public at the library, 103 E. Poplar St., Greencastle.

Serving as county historian since 2008, Tippin's interest in history has grown out of extensive research of his family roots and restoration of pioneer cemeteries.

His new book details the 1896 murder of Greencastle native, Pearl Bryan. The sensational killing and its chilling details came to be known as "the crime of the century."

Tippin's study of the betrayal of Pearl Bryan is taken exclusively from thousands of pages of trial transcripts, depositions, contemporary newspaper accounts and other primary source documents.

Those who are familiar with the story will be pleased to finally get an accurate description of the events. Others should find this account of her short life and tragic death quite interesting.

Tippin will be signing copies of his book and will have copies available for purchase.

A semi-retired CPA, Tippin has served in a variety of civic and professional organizations. He was a founding member of the Central Indiana Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants and served as chapter president and regional vice president of the National Association of Government Accountants.

He also has served as treasurer and president of the North Putnam Alumni Association, as a member of the board of directors of the local Heritage Preservation Society, Putnam County Museum and Friends of the Roachdale Library.
