A new analysis of music schools in the United States puts the DePauw University School of Music in the top 10 percent of the nation.

College Factual, a New York-based firm focused on student outcomes, found that DePauw’s music program was ranked 33rd out of 371 schools nationwide.

Using PayScale survey data, “a student who graduates from DePauw with a degree in music will make average early-career earnings of $40,631 and average mid-career earnings of $67,289,” the report determined.

“This is above the national average of all graduates, who make $36,825 in their early career. It is also above the average graduate’s mid-career salary of $57,911.”

Founded in 1884, the DePauw School of Music is one of the oldest private institutions for post-secondary music instructions in the country.

One of the School of Music’s annual signature events, the Holiday Gala, will feature university bands, choirs, jazz ensemble and orchestra, as well as a host of soloists and chamber groups all performing at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 in Kresge Auditorium of the Green Center for the Performing Arts.
