Bollman, Scott, Moody take top all-county honors

Three of Putnam County’s top senior football players brought home top honors on the 2018 all-Putnam County team.

Greencastle’s Damon Moody was named the offensive player of the year, while teammate Gavin Bollman and South Putnam defensive leader Dalton Scott were named co-winners of the defensive player of the year award.

Moody was a dominant force offensively for the 8-2 Tiger Cubs, running 237 times for 1,533 yards and 13 touchdown.

He had eight games of more than 100 yards, and his total rushing yards placed him 36th in the state.

Bollman was 33rd in the state with nine sacks, while also making 103 total tackles (77 solo, 26 assists), with 26 for loss, four pass deflections, three fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles.

Scott was the major force on defense for the Eagles, who finished 6-7 but captured the sectional championship.

Scott had 111 total tackles, with 52 solo tackles and 59 assists. Thirty-five of those tackles were for losses.

He also added 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

The team was chosen by the four coaches.

North Putnam, which finished 8-4 and was runnerup to eventual state champion Western Boone in the sectional, led the selections for the 31 other players chosen by position.

Greencastle had nine additional players chosen, while South Putnam had eight and Cloverdale had four.

As usual, the team was dominated by seniors with 17. Thirteen juniors and one sophomore were also chosen.
