Evelyn Jane Strother

Evelyn Jane Strother, 81, of Greencastle, formerly of Plainfield, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018.

She was born on May 18, 1937 in Greencastle, the daughter of George and Ruth (Bennett) Arnold.

She was a 1955 graduate of Fillmore High School.

Evelyn was a homemaker and had worked at Mallory's in Greencastle and The Bowling Alley and Marsh in Plainfield.

She was a member of the Northview Christian Church, Danville, and the 700 Club.

She is survived by her children, Julie Herrick, Billy (wife Carol) Strother, Brian (wife Linda) Strother, Jamie (husband Charles) Sage, and Rita Jo Wooldridge; three sisters, Julia (husband Paul) VanStone, Terri (husband Joseph) Dahlstrom and Rita Smith; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Arnold Detro and Carol Magness; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Strother; two sons, Bradlee A. Strother and Richard "Woody" Wooldridge; a grandson, Brian Wayne Strother; a brother, Maynard Arnold; and two sisters, Kay Reburger and an infant Elizabeth Ann.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Dr. Billy Strother officiating. Interment will follow at Brick Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10.
