James M. Knauer

James Marvin Knauer, 53, of Nome, Texas, passed away at CHI St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital, Bryan, Texas, on Dec. 9, 2018, from complications due to his injuries in a motorcycle accident on Dec. 2.

He was born Aug. 4, 1965 in Greencastle to James E. and Nina M. Knauer.

Jim graduated from Greencastle High School in 1983 and proudly served in the U.S. Army.

He graduated from the Aviation Institute of Maintenance School in Indianapolis and later worked locally at Poet Bio-refining, and most recently with Valero Renewables-Linden/Valero Refinery-Port Arthur, Texas.

Jim married Julia M. Gary on June 1, 2018, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister Julie (Mike) Poor of Greencastle; mother-in-law Thelma Patterson; sisters-in-law Cathy Barg, Brenda (Jeff) Alspaugh, Roberta (Steve) Lyons; brother-in-law Daniel Patterson, aunts, uncle, nieces, nephew and cousins.

In addition to his family and many friends, Jimmy enjoyed his motorcycle, hunting and fishing, BBQ and his dog Razor.

He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

A celebration of life will be conducted in Texas and Jim will be laid to rest with military honors in Greencastle at a later date, to be announced.
