Legion Christmas party a cooperative effort

Friday, December 28, 2018

To the Editor:

On Saturday morning, Dec. 8, the Greencastle Sons of the American Legion Squadron 58, along with the Women’s Auxiliary, held our annual Breakfast and Christmas Party with Santa at the Cassell C. Tucker American Legion Post 58 in Greencastle.

Thirty-two children and grandchildren of Legion members were registered along with over 70 adults in attendance. Our main hall was packed.

As Christmas music played in the background, a breakfast of pancakes, sausages, orange juice, white and chocolate milk was served.

Games were played until Santa’s arrival.

And soon the big moment had come as Santa arrived with everyone singing, “Jingle Bells.”

As each child’s name was read, they came up to sit on Santa’s lap. Santa talked with each child as they smiled. Each child received an age-appropriate gift and a stocking full of candy.

Soon it was time for Santa to be on his way. Everyone had a great time. We received many “Thanks” for our party.

We would like to thank our “Man in Red,” Russ Wilson; our breakfast cooks, Richard Coffin, Teddi Beard and Pat Denny; and a big thank you to our servers and Santa helpers, Julie Wood, Brenda O’Brien, Joan Clifford and others.

The Christmas Party would not have been possible without the help of everyone. Thanks to all for a job well done.
