Free rides home offered by A-Cab on New Year’s Eve

Continuing a holiday tradition, A-Cab Taxi Service will again offer free transportation within five miles of Greencastle on New Year’s Eve and early New Year’s Day. Persons may call 720-4050 for a free New Year’s Eve ride. C’mon and take a free ride ...

With a goal of seeing four straight years of zero DUI’s in the Greencastle area on New Year’s Eve, A-Cab Taxi and Delivery Service is again offering free rides home from local bars, restaurants and clubs as 2018 gives way to 2019.

“We’re offering free rides home anywhere within five miles of Greencastle, so take advantage of it,” urged A-Cab spokesman Indy Evans.

Rides will be available from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. as A-Cab, the local taxi service, will have three cars on the road, ready to take party people home safely.

When they are ready to leave the party, they can call 765-720-4050 to be picked up, Evans said.

Persons are also invited to make reservations to be picked up at a certain hour from one of the local establishments, she said.

A-Cab accommodated 85 people last year, completing its third year offering the ride service with sponsors Felling and Felling Attorneys, the Greencastle Eagles and Moore’s Bar.

It also marked the third consecutive year in which no DUI arrests were made locally on the holiday -- a tradition the cab company hopes to help maintain.
