County Jail

One person was booked in the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

• At 9:23 p.m. Anthoni Benjamin Carper, 21, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 3:43 a.m. Friday, William Grogan, 42, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Taken into custody on Bloomington Street, Grogan was arrested on charges of invasion of privacy and possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, he was also arrested on a Putnam County warrant for burglary, criminal mischief, resisting law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent property-damage accidents.

• At 11:49 a.m. on Thursday, Samuel G. Bell, 18, Roachdale, was northbound on State Road 243, about a half-mile south of U.S. 40 in a 2007 Mitsubishi Galant.

As Bell went around the corner to go westbound, he lost control and hit a guardrail on the west side, heavily damaging the guardrail.

Deputy Brian Helmer estimated damage at $25,000-$50,000. The vehicle was towed.

• At 6:19 a.m. on Wednesday, James L. Bullock, 53, Russellville, was westbound on State Road 236, approaching the intersection of County Road 475 West in a 2017 Ford Fiesta when he hit a deer.

The vehicle was towed.

Deputy Helmer estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five recent dispatches:

• At 11:48 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 403 E. Seminary St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:54 to find that the alarm system was being tested. The alarm was then reset. GFD went back into service at 12:02 p.m.

• At 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 106 S. Spring St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at about 10:31 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 10:35 a.m.

• At 11:54 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12 p.m. and found that a drain hose on a washing machine had loosened, causing flooding which leaked into a detector head. The head was cleaned and the alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 12:13 p.m.

• At 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was called to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Bloomington and Washington Streets. Units arrived on the scene at 6:17 and assisted the injured, as well as cleaned up debris from the roadway. GFD went back into service at 6:37 p.m.

• At 10:04 a.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 102 W. Poplar St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:05 and found that the alarm system was being tested and had not been turned off. The alarm was then reset. GFD went back into service at 10:07 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed two medical assists and had one disregard during this time.
