Huge night in WIC hoops

Thursday, January 3, 2019

Tonight is the fourth of five nights of girls/boys basketball doubleheaders in the Western Indiana Conference, and one of only two when all eight Putnam County teams meet different opponents.

Several county teams have a chance to make huge statements in tonight’s action.

In the girls’ standings, Cloverdale and Owen Valley will break their East Division first-place tie tonight in Spencer, with the winner locking up at least a tie.

In the West Division, Greencastle can move into at least a two-team tie with a win at first-place Northview tonight. North Putnam is tied with Greencastle for second place at 2-1, and could form a three-way tie with a win at last-place West Vigo.

On the boys’ side, Edgewood is in sole possession of first place in the East Division and hosts last-place Brown County tonight.

In the West Division, Greencastle, Sullivan and West Vigo are in a three-way tie for first place.

Greencastle plays at Northview tonight, and could use some help from two county rivals as Sullivan plays at South Putnam and West Vigo hosts North Putnam.
