Traffic stop leads to 221 grams of methamphetamine

CLOVERDALE - On Friday at 3 p.m., an Indiana State Trooper observed a white Ford Fusion following too close on Interstate 70 eastbound near the 40 mile marker. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Mindy Wilson, 35, of Mt Vernon, Illinois. During the course of the traffic stop the trooper observed criminal indicators. Consent was received from Wilson for a vehicle search.

During the search of the vehicle, the trooper discovered 221 grams of methamphetamine located in the trunk. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $4,500. It was also discovered that the vehicle Wilson was driving had been reported stolen out of Jefferson County, Illinois earlier that morning. Wilson was traveling from Mt. Vernon, IL to South Bend, IN. Wilson was taken into custody and transported to the Putnam County Jail.

CHARGES:

--Dealing Methamphetamine level 2 felony

--Possession of Methamphetamine level 3 felony

--Vehicle theft level 6 felony

--Following too close
