Lela Mae (Eggers) Hedge

Lela Mae (Eggers) Hedge, 91, left us to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at Hickory Creek at Sunset in Greencastle.

Lela was born on Oct. 16, 1927, in the Groveland area of Putnam County. She was the daughter of William Franklin and Lela Alice (Allgood) Eggers.

A 1945 graduate of Bainbridge High School, she married Howard Raymond Hedge on Sept. 23, 1945.

Surviving are her children, Marcia (Charles) Wells and Robert (Sherry) Hedge, both of Greencastle; six grandchildren, Jeff and Chris (Lynn) Wells, Becky (Ed) Nightingale, Bill (Katy) Hedge, Dara McMains and Katie (Andrew) Bonnoront; and eight great-grandchildren, ReBecka and MyLindaWells, Ellie and Samantha Nightingale, Gracie and Abby Hedge, Jude and Julia Holmes.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four sisters, Veda, Irene, Pansy and Elsie; and two brothers, Ora and Bill.

Lela was active in the Roachdale Opti-Mrs. and the Roachdale Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.

Services will be held at the Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, 102 E. Washington St. in Roachdale at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019. Viewing is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Christopher Wells will be officiating.
