Crop Marketing and Farm Finance Workshop set Feb. 14

Monday, February 4, 2019

Purdue Extension is exciting to be offering a Crop Marketing & Farm Finance Workshop in February. This workshop will focus on helping improve farm profitability in 2019. It will provide farmers an opportunity to improve both their crop marketing and financial management skill sets.

The Crop Marketing & Farm Finance Workshop has two 90-minute sessions within it.

The first one is on improving your crop marketing skills. This part of the workshop will focus on learning about your local basis patterns and how you can take advantage of that knowledge to improve profitability on your farming operation and reduce risk.

The second session will explore how to use enterprise budgets to evaluate long-term enterprise profitability, and whole-farm financial projects to evaluate profitability and repayment capacity for the upcoming year. There will be a case farm used to help illustrate the concepts.

The Crop Marketing & Farm Finance Workshop will be offered on Feb. 14, starting at 10 a.m. at the Clay County Fairgrounds (6656 N. SR 59, Brazil). The program will conclude around 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

The workshop is free; however, it is asked that persons register for the program by Feb. 12 by going online to: https://tinyurl.com/y8ox5cd3.

Presenters for the Crop Marketing & Farm Finance Workshop include James Mintert and Michael Langemeier from Purdue University’s Center for Commercial Agriculture. For more information, contact Sarah Zahn at smithse@purdue.edu or 765-494-7004 or the Putnam County Extension Office at 653-8411.
