Putnam Scanner for February 6, 2019

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 2:45 p.m. Monday, Anthony Michael Jones, 23, Greencastle, was arrested on Walnut Street by GPD Officer Kyle Lee.

Jones was booked into the Putnam County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of paraphernalia and a probation violation.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five recent dispatches:

• At 3:07 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 904 S. College Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:13 and found the fire alarm had malfunctioned due to a water flow alarm. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 3:54 p.m.

• At 11:13 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 414 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:16 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 11:22 p.m.

• At 11:01 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 106 S. Spring St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:05 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 11:10 a.m.

• At 7:09 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 807 S. College Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:13 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 7:20 p.m.

• At 9:15 a.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to Putnam Family Health Care, 309 Medic Way, for a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:18 and found that a fire had started behind a wall. The fire had been extinguished by staff before GFD arrived. The building was then checked out and cleared of smoke and carbon monoxide. The fire is believed to be have been caused by an electrical malfunction. GFD went back into service at 10:12 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed four medical assists and had one disregard during this time.
