Theodore Clyde 'Ted' Pierce

Theodore Clyde "Ted" Pierce, 71, of Greencastle, was called home to heaven Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019. Ted was home with family. He had been battling lung cancer.

Ted was born Nov. 30, 1947 in Punxsutawney, Pa., to the late Clyde Alexander and Ruby B. (McCullough) Pierce.

He moved to Indiana in 1966 to be close to his two sisters, there he met and married his wife of 50 years, Rita Carol Bryant.

Ted worked many years in the trucking industry for Gelco-Penske Truck Leasing as a mechanic and later in supervision and Crawford & Pierce Truck Leasing.

Ted loved deer hunting and woodworking.

He is survived by four children, Belinda Jo "Bo" Pierce Clayton, William "Shane" Pierce, Jason Pierce and Hailee Pierce. In addition, they also had three more grandchildren, Nicholas Boswell, Cheyanne Heagy and Arianna Pierce; sister Shirley Spencer (Don); brothers-in-law Ken Spencer and Kenneth Bryant; and many nieces, nephews and many friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce Ragan, sisters-in-law Freeda Spencer and Phyllis Bryant; brother-in-law Lonnie Bryant; mother-in-law and father-in-law Ed and Winefred Bryant; and many aunts and uncles.

Ted has requested cremation and a celebration of life to be held 2 p.m. March 9 at New Providence Baptist Church, 6526 S. County Road 550 East, Greencastle. Visitation will be from noon until the service time at 2 p.m.

Dinner will be served after services.
