Recognizing the important role agriculture plays in Putnam County’s past, present and future, Putnam County Commissioners (seated from left) David Berry, Rick Woodall and Don Walton officially proclaim Saturday, March 9 as Ag Day in Putnam County. The Ag Day committee, represented by chairman Heather Poynter (standing left) and Jenna Nees, has planned a slate of activities that begins with the Putnam County Ag Breakfast from 8-9 a.m. at the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building. Cost of the pancake and sausage breakfast is $1. All proceeds benefit Putnam County 4-H, FFA or fairgrounds improvements. A short program will begin at 9 a.m. featuring the 100th anniversary of Indiana Farm Bureau, given by Keegan Poe, regional manager. The program will also include announcing this year’s winners of the Ag Day Photo Contest and Hall of Fame awards. It will conclude by around 9:30 am, with the Mini Farm Fest following beginning at 10 a.m. and lasting until noon.
