County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Monday.

• At 3:54 p.m. Mark Anthony Boehm, 41, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 11:26 a.m. Nicholas Tanner Shackleford, 26, Greenwood, was booked in for contempt of court.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent accident.

• At 4:44 a.m. on Thursday, Steven Brown, 35, Poland, was westbound on State Road 42 in a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer when he fell asleep.

Brown told Deputy Tanner Brown that when he woke up the vehicle was in the ditch. The SUV then continued into a fence and the front yard of 1112 E. SR 42.

The driver was not injured.

Deputy Brown estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 12:11 a.m. Tuesday, Michael Spivey, 26, Greencastle, was arrested on Maple Street by Officer Alec Pettit.

Arrested on a Putnam County warrant for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, Spivey was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

• At 10:49 p.m. Monday, Electa Luann Cancilla, 61, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, Cancilla registered a .27 percent blood-alcohol content, police said. She was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Three recent citations were issued by City Police officers.

• At 2:26 p.m. Sunday, Jacquline Paul, 69, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham.

Cited in the Kroger parking lot off Indianapolis Road, Paul was ticketed for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility.

• At 2:17 p.m. Saturday, Austin Clodfelter, 18, New Market, was ticketed for speeding by Officer Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, Clodfelter was cited for 60 mph in a 30-mph zone.

• At 7:50 p.m. Thursday, Samantha Teall, 21, Greencastle, was cited on Indianapolis Road by Sgt. Eric Vaughan.

Teall was issued a citation for a violation of the open container law.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five recent dispatches:

• At 7:30 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a vehicle fire at 940 Indianapolis Rd. Firefighters arrived at 7:33 to find that a fire had started in the engine compartment, but had burned out before GFD arrived. The cause of the fire was undetermined. GFD went back into service at 7:49 a.m.

• At 5:04 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 626 E. Seminary St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:09 and determined that the alarm was due to vaping. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 5:16 p.m.

• At 10:12 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 413 S. Locust St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:16 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 10:30 p.m.

• At 10:56 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 1 Taylor Place for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11 p.m. but could not determine the cause of the alarm. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 11:09 p.m.

• At 10:47 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 208 E. Olive St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:52 and determined that the alarm was due to hair care products. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 10:57 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed five medical assists and had three disregards after these dispatches.
