Putnam, Indiana teachers associations offering scholarship opportunities

The Putnam County Retired Teachers Association will award a $500 scholarship for the 2019-20 academic year to a current Indiana college/university sophomore or junior who aspires to become a future educator.

Applicants must be Putnam County high school graduates and enrolled in a undergraduate education degree program.

Interested students may access the Putnam County Retired Teachers Association website: www.putnamrta.com for information.

Applicants must submit a cover letter along with a completed application, resume, a one- to two-page essay on “Why I Want To Become a Teacher,” a recommendation letter from a high school teacher who is not a relative, a recommendation letter from a professor in the School of Education, and an official college/university transcript.

Application deadline is April 15. Completed applications and all requested supporting information should be emailed to pcretiredteachers@gmail.com.

Meanwhile, the Indiana Retired Teachers Foundation State Scholarship Committee is offering a $2,000 scholarship opportunity for the 2019-20 academic year.

Applicants must be current college/university sophomores or juniors and enrolled in an Indiana college/university undergraduate education degree program. Applicants must also be sponsored by a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
