County Jail
Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.
Sunday
At 12:38 p.m. Lucus J. Zeller, 18, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for domestic battery and criminal confinement.
At 1:32 a.m. Robert Perry Forsyth, 49, Greenwood, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.
Saturday
At 1:50 a.m. Brian Scott Woody, 50, Bainbridge, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.
Friday
At 11:34 p.m. Timmy Joe Tomlin Jr., 34, Cloverdale, was booked in on a local warrant.
At 12:01 p.m. Cameron Patrick Manor, 34, Petersburg, Mich., was lodged at the jail on a court order.
At 11:07 a.m. Jimmy Lynn Sizemore, 44, Camby, was taken into custody on a local warrant.
City Police
Greencastle City Police officers have made a pair of arrests in connection with a shoplifting/theft incident at the Walmart store off Indianapolis Road.
At 5:25 p.m. Sunday, Det. Matt Huffman was called to the superstore after Walmart loss prevention personnel had reportedly detained two teenage girls in connection with the incident.
Arrested and charged with theft were Karsen E. Boyce, 18, Cloverdale, and Shelbi Kay Underwood, 18, Mooresville, who allegedly took $119.56 worth of merchandise without paying for it.
The young women reportedly took a variety of summer clothes such as tank tops, along with beach towels, sunglasses, faux fingernails, scarves and deodorant, placing the items in a purse carried by Boyce and walking past all points of sale as they attempted to leave the premises.
Boyce and Underwood were lodged in the Putnam County Jail.
Det. Huffman was assisted by GPD Reserve Officer Kenny Shepherd.
Two recent citations were issued by city officers.
At 11:18 p.m. Friday, Michael Travioli, 54, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Luke Brown.
Stopped on Indianapolis Road near Percy Julian Drive, Travioli was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.
At 10:59 p.m. Friday, Melissa Miller, 41, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Alec Pettit.
Stopped on North Jackson Street near Columbia Street, Miller was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.
City Fire
The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six recent dispatches:
At 8:45 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 311 S. Locust St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:50 and determined the alarm was caused by a fog machine. There was no fire and the alarm was reset. GFD left at 8:57 p.m.
At 9:07 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 10 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:12 and found the alarm was set off by steam issuing from the mechanical room. Maintenance workers were advised of the alarm, and GFD went back into service at 9:16 a.m.
At 1:19 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 413 S. Locust St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:25 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 1:29 a.m.
At 10:11 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 412 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:15 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 10:20 a.m.
At 1:23 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:26 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 1:33 p.m.
At 3:36 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to another fire alarm at 10 W. Hanna St. Firefighters arrived at 3:39 to find that steam issuing from an overpressure valve in the maintenance room had caused the alarm to malfunction. As the alarm could not be reset, maintenance workers replaced the detector, and GFD returned to station at 4:03 p.m.
Additionally, GFD performed six medical assists during this time.
