Driver killed in early-morning crash on SR 42

CLOVERDALE — A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash east of Cloverdale early Sunday morning.

A Facebook post from Putnam County Sheriff’s Department said the crash took place on State Road 42 east of Cloverdale.

The driver, whose identity authorities have not released, lost control and struck a tree. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Putnam County Coroner’s Office has notified the driver’s family.

Deputies are investigating the accident with assistance from Indiana State Police.

Police have also not named any contributing factors to the crash, though sleet and snow had blanketed the area with unseasonal precipitation on Saturday evening.

Other agencies assisting included the Cloverdale Fire Department, Cloverdale Police Department and Trimble’s Towing.
