Russellville Town Council accepts roadwork bid

RUSSELLVILLE -- The Russellville Town Council has taken one of the final steps before locally major roadwork is set to begin within the town.

In a recent special meeting that perhaps did not take five minutes, town officials accepted a bid from Wabash Valley Asphalt for road repairs through a recently awarded Community Crossings grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).

The grant totals $207,482.02 and is a 75-25 percent split between the state and Russellville. The town will cover $51,870.50, while the state will pay the remaining majority of the grant at $155,611.51.

During a call from the Banner Graphic Friday afternoon, Clerk-Treasurer Martha Mandleco said the project will address the roads in two segments required by INDOT. She added that the specific roads scheduled in each segment will be provided at a later date.

Wabash Valley Asphalt has performed improvements in the town in other similar projects, with the most recent work being done under another Community Crossings grant last year.
