Dollars for Scholars seeking support for Farm to Fork Dinner

Tuesday, April 2, 2019

Dollars for Scholars chapters in Putnam County have come together to sponsor a Farm to Fork Dinner to raise funds for scholarships.

Members of the Cloverdale, Greencastle, North Putnam and South Putnam chapters have been meeting for months to plan this event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds. All funds raised from the dinner will be divided among the four chapters to provide scholarships for students in each school corporation.

According to the Indiana Department of Education, currently 5,512 students are enrolled in Putnam County schools. All 5,512 will leave school and benefit from post-secondary education or training to strengthen the workforce. The chapters award scholarships every year, but there are students who do not receive this much-needed assistance. Students in Putnam County need to know that the community believes in them. The community can help their schools award these scholarships.

The Putnam County Dollars for Scholars chapters have applied to and received a matching grant from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture to help cover the Farm to Fork Dinner. However, additional sponsors who share this vision are greatly needed.

Contributions will be going to 501(c)(3) organizations and are 100 percent tax-deductible. Platinum sponsors ($1,000 and up) and Gold sponsors ($500 to $999) will receive two tickets to attend the Farm to Fork Dinner. Silver sponsors ($100 to $499) will receive one ticket to the event. Sponsors who contribute before May 1 will receive full recognition through printed materials and be recognized at the dinner. Those which donate after May 1 will also be recognized at the event in appreciation of their donations.

Tickets for the dinner are $40. Tables for 10 will also be available to reserve at $400 each.

North Putnam Dollars for Scholars is the financial agent for the Farm to Fork Dinner. All contributions and ticket sales from this event will be distributed evenly to each school’s Dollars for Scholars chapter.

Questions may be directed to committee members Vivian Whitaker and Todd Lewis at Cloverdale, Terri McKee and Ron Blotch at Greencastle, Alan and Mary Zerkel at North Putnam and Karen Nelson Heavin and Brian Gardner at South Putnam.

Those wishing to give financial support or reserve tickets for the Farm to Fork Dinner may do so by mailing to North Putnam Dollars for Scholars at North Putnam High School, 8869 N. CR 250 East, Roachdale, IN 46172.
