Locust Street restricted for DPU work starting Monday

Thursday, April 4, 2019

The southbound lane of South Locust Street in the vicinity of Olive and Howard streets in Greencastle's South End will be closed from Monday, April 8 until June 1 for a DePauw University construction project.

The immediate work involves relocation of underground utilities and installing new heating and cooling piping under the street prior to construction of the new residence hall.

The new dormitory at the southwest corner of Locust and Olive streets is expected to be ready for first-year students by the fall semester of 2020.

In February, the Greencastle Board of Works approved a memorandum of understanding between the university and the city on the utilities work and any necessary street closings, providing that any repairs necessitated by the construction would be the responsibility of DePauw and not the city.
