Linda Lou Trout, 83, of Coatesville and most recently Greencastle, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019.

Linda was born in Indianapolis on Dec. 7, 1936 to Herbert and Anna Edna Brown. As a little girl, her family moved to Coatesville, where her parents bought a farm and later ran Brown’s Variety Store.

Linda graduated from Amo High School and Indiana State Teacher’s College (ISU), where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Linda later obtained her Masters of Teaching degree from DePauw University.

Linda married Millard “Rodney” Trout on Dec. 16, 1956, and they continued to live in Terre Haute while they both completed their teaching degrees. They moved to Carmel and she and Rodney began their teaching careers. They taught for three years in Washington Township of Marion County. They later moved back to Coatesville and spent 33 years teaching for Mill Creek Community Schools. Linda was very active in the Classroom Teachers Association, holding various offices before retiring in 1997.

Linda was a member of Coatesville Christian Church for most of her life. She served as treasurer, Sunday school director, choir director, and led vacation Bible school for many years.

Following retirement, Linda delivered meals for Meals-on-Wheels of Hendricks County and organized the Weekly Religious Education program at Amo Baptist Church for Mill Creek West School for many years.

Linda and Rodney traveled extensively, having been to all 50 states and numerous countries over six continents. They enjoyed most of their traveling with lifelong friends, Jim and Carole Knoblett. Yearly trips with the children and grandchildren were highlights for the couple.

Linda is survived by daughter Nancy (Brad) Collins; daughter-in-law Pauline Trout; grandchildren Jacob (Marie) Collins, Katie Collins and Rachel (Jordan) Graham; sister Ginny (Larry) Salsman; brother-in-law Jim Graves; nieces Sarah Phelps, Becky Roach, Sharon Everling, Jill Fossett and Stacy Smith; and nephews Sam Vaughn, Jimmy Vaughn, Duke Brown and Chad Salsman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 59 years, beloved son Michael Trout and brother David Brown.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, April 13 at Bousley Funeral Home in Coatesville at noon with calling beginning at 10 a.m.
