Supermarket Sweep event April 22 to aid local food pantries

The DePauw University Hartman Center for Civic Engagement and the Purdue Extension Office of Putnam County invite the public to take part in their inaugural Supermarket Sweep.

Supermarket Sweep is a philanthropy event where teams (or individual shoppers) shop for and donate needed items to local food pantries. The event will take place on Monday, April 22 from 10 a.m.-11 p.m. at the Greencastle Kroger store, 821 Indianapolis Rd. All are welcome to participate and make a donation.

During the day (10 a.m.- 6 p.m.), shoppers will have a chance to purchase and donate needed items or gift cards.

From 6-8 p.m., Putnam County youth groups and other community organizations can participate in the competition portion of Supermarket Sweep.

From 8-11 p.m., groups of DePauw students will compete in Supermarket Sweep.
