Richard Kelly, 84, of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at his residence.

Richard was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on Aug. 28, 1934, the son of Joseph and Helen (Barnes) Kelly.

He was a graduate of Mineola High School in New York.

Richard earned a Ph.D. in psychology from Purdue University. He did his undergraduate studies at Hofstra University.

Richard was a professor at DePauw University and the director of the Bureau of Testing and Research. He also provided assessments to help children in local area schools and worked as a psychologist in Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Judith Kelly; and two daughters, Lisa Kelly-Vance (Michael Vance), Omaha, Neb., and Jane Kelly (Thomas Lidd), Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16 at Green Lawn Cemetery in Darlington to share a moment of silence, prayers and meditation.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice in Richard Kelly's memory.

Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Grencastle, is in charge of the arrangements.
