Round-up dates set for GCSC

Monday, April 15, 2019

Kindergarten round-up dates have been set for students entering kindergarten in the Greencastle Community School Corporation for the 2019-20 school year. Ridpath Primary School round-up will take place Tuesday, April 23 from noon to 7 p.m.

Round-up for Deer Meadow Primary School will take place Thursday, April 25 from noon to 7 p.m.

These sessions are only for incoming kindergarten students. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be five years old on or before Aug. 1.

Parents need to bring the following with them to roundup: Your child; a certified copy of your child’s birth certificate (not a copy from the hospital); and your child’s shot records.

Requirements for immunizations are listed on the school corporation website under the “Families” tab; then the “Information Resources” link. Then click the “Health Services” link. Click on “Forms” and you will then find an immunization requirements link to open.

Parents will complete some general paperwork and the initial online process in the computer lab. Children will participate in assessments for language arts and math. Kindergarten teachers and other school staff members will be present throughout the afternoon and evening.

Due to the time-consuming nature of speech and hearing screenings, they will be completed when students start school next fall. Parents will, however, have an opportunity to complete paperwork during round-up to bring any known speech or hearing difficulties to the attention of the appropriate GCSC staff members.

Both schools encourage parents to share this information with others who have children who are eligible to enroll in kindergarten.

For any questions, persons may contact Deer Meadow at 653-3518 or Ridpath at 653-3315.
