City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to nine recent dispatches:

• At 11 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Fillmore Road and East State Road 240. Units arrived on the scene at 11:05 and assisted the patient, as well as performed debris and fluid cleanup. GFD returned to station at 11:43 p.m.

• At 11:44 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a possible structure fire at 1141 Avenue C. Firefighters arrived at 11:48 but instead found a recreational burn that was not notified. GFD informed the homeowner of the city burn ordinance, but didn’t specify if the fire was extinguished. GFD went back into service at 11:54 p.m.

• At 1:27 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:33 and found that the alarm had malfunctioned. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 1:46 a.m.

• At 11:16 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD responded to what was called in as a fire alarm at 204 S. Spring St. Firefighters arrived at 11:27 but found no alarm sounding or any sign of a fire. GFD contacted dispatch and determined that it was a false call at another location. GFD returned to station at 11:28 a.m.

• At 11:10 a.m., GFD was dispatched again to 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:14 and determined that the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 11:32 a.m.

• At 6:54 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 18 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:58 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 7:06 p.m.

• At 10:02 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 941 Evensview Dr. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:09 and found that water had leaked into a detector head and activated the alarm. The alarm was then silenced and determined to be damaged. GFD left at 10:22 p.m.

• At 11:29 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Putnamville Street and Veterans Memorial Highway. Units arrived at 11:35 and assisted Operation Life with care of the patient. GFD went back into service at 11:49 p.m.

• At 5:57 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 304 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at about 5:58 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 6:09 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed seven medical assists and had one disregard during this time.
