Author Niki Milburn will host a book signing for her recently released children’s book “Those Who Seek God,” at Scoops Ice Cream, 13 S. Indiana St., Greencastle, on Saturday, May 11 from 1-3 p.m.

Released on April 11, “Those Who Seek God” is published by Lucid Publishing and has been available for online presales through Amazon and Barnes & Noble since February. The book has been on Amazon’s top five in sales in the children’s Christian animal category since its launch.

A Greencastle native, Milburn recounts that her passion for children’s literature began in her third-grade class with Joy Marley at Ridpath Elementary School. Listening to Marley read books to the class was the favorite part of her school day, and Milburn has carried that love of children’s literature throughout her education and teaching career.

The thought of writing a children’s book had always been a dream, but raising her family was Milburn’s main priority. It wasn’t until her brother passed away several years ago that she felt the impulse to begin writing.

Milburn recalls initially having several ideas, but that none of them felt right. After praying for guidance, it soon came to her: incorporate Bible verses with small animals which reflect the teaching of the passage. Within minutes, she had a list of verses and animals, and knew it was the kind of book she was meant to write.

Milburn’s next hurdle was finding an illustrator to bring her animals to life. Lucid Publishing was able to put her in touch with illustrator Jerry Vineyard. It turned out to be the perfect collaboration, as Vineyard is not only a recognized illustrator for children’s books, but is also a pastor and understood her vision.

“Those Who Seek God” is a story about young animals wanting to learn more about God. Through Bible verses and conversations with loved ones, these characters discover that seeking God is simple. Kids of all ages will enjoy listening as the Swan, Kitten, Caterpillar, Otter and others go through this journey.

“Those Who Seek God” is available online on Amazon and Barnes & Noble in hardback, paperback, audiobook and for Kindle. A limited number of books will be available for purchase at the book signing.

Milburn is a 1998 graduate of Greencastle High School, and graduated from St. Leo College in Florida with a degree in elementary education. She currently resides in Georgia with her husband Nate and two sons, Miles and Maguire.
