North Putnam High School ‘for sale’ in 2019 senior prank
Having gleaned all the knowledge they can out of the place, some enterprising North Putnam High School seniors have placed the school for sale.
At least that’s what the craigslist post says.
Posted late Wednesday morning on the classified advertisement site, the listing has North Putnam High School for sale for $2,019, a special amount for these seniors.
“North Putnam High School for sale,” the post opens. “Also comes with a middle school for the little ones.”
Of course, the school isn’t really for sale, but in a prank approved by the administration, the class of 2019 has it looking like they are selling the building, occupants and all.
“Comes with a few good staff and a good amount of teachers,” the post notes, before going on to list several features of the property. “We are also throwing in underclassmen.”
The post even gets a little sentimental in noting “has a lot of good memories from the graduating class of 2019.”
Principal Jason Chew was happy to approve the joke, given that it comes largely at his expense.
“The worst kept secret at our school is that all our kids’ pranks get pre-approved,” Chew told the Banner Graphic. “I thought this one was funny and didn’t hurt anyone except me. They posted the for sale contact as my cell number.”
The calls and texts have been coming.
“I’ve received a handful of messages and calls,” Chew said. “My wife and I laugh at them when they come in.”
Taking it a step further, Chew is even encouraging people to call. He changed his voicemail to accept well wishes for the Class of 2019.
To see the post and perhaps leave a message, go to https://indianapolis.craigslist.org/ and search either “North Putnam highschool” (one word) or for post 6884199292.
In the meantime, Chew gets to enjoy the laughs.
“I just had a guy offer $2,018,” Chew said.
That bid should make last year’s graduates smile.
