Realtors thankful for support of shred event

Monday, May 20, 2019

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Putnam County Board of Realtors, I would like to thank everyone that participated in our Community Shred Event on Saturday, May 11. The event was sponsored by Earl & Co, CPA and Daniel Builders, enabling us to provide the shred service for free to the community.

According to ProShred, recycling the contents of the shredded paper from our event saved 327 trees. This was one of our biggest events in terms of shredding completed – with 19.25 tons of paper securely shredded and recycled.

Many participants chose to make a donation to the Putnam County Board of Realtors Scholarship fund, which allows us to grow our endowment with the Putnam County Community Foundation. This will benefit Putnam County high school seniors in years to come.

Through our endowment, the Putnam County Board of Realtors will award $2,000 in scholarships to Putnam County high school seniors (four $500 scholarships) over the next two weeks.

Thank you to everyone that participated and to those members that volunteered – Jon Blue, Gina Carter, Traci Dobson, My Gilley, Elizabeth Kienzynski, Sue McCune, Tina Nicholson, MaryAnn Pearson, Suzy Schneider, George Schneider and Chris Skillern. We would also like to thank the Greencastle Community School Corporation for allowing us to set up in their parking lot.
