County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 5:29 p.m. Anthony Michael Jones, 23, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for domestic battery and resisting law enforcement.

• At 1:59 a.m. Keith Lee Tincher, 54, Greencastle, was booked in for possession of stolen property.

• At 1:48 a.m. DeMarco Jahahl Henry, 22, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for driving with a BAC of .15 or more and driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 9:40 p.m. Gregory Ryan McHugh, 42, Coatesville, was taken into custody for unauthorized absence of home detention, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

• At 4:55 p.m. Vickie Lynn Roberts, 39, Coal City, was housed at the jail for unlawful possession of a syringe.

• At 1:36 p.m. Wesley Nathan January, 28, Fillmore, was booked in for possession of marijuana and dealing in marijuana.

Friday

• At 11:23 p.m. Kevin Ray Comfort, 57, Martinsville, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

Indiana State Police

Indiana State troopers recently arrested three people in Putnam County following traffic stops.

• On Saturday evening, Trooper Colton Maynor arrested Adam Lee McCastle, 45, Greencastle.

McCastle was booked in the Putnam County Jail at 8:29 p.m. for driving while intoxicated.

• Also on Saturday, Trooper Maynor stopped a Coatesville man for failure to wear a seatbelt.

The driver, 42-year-old Timothy Lewis Nauman, was booked in the jail at 1:36 p.m. for driving while intoxicated.

• Early Friday morning, Trooper Kyle Hall initiated a traffic stop at County Road 100 South and County Road 125 East.

The driver, 25-year-old Timothy Robert Dolquist of Boulder, Colo., refused to submit to a certified chemical test.

He was booked in the jail at 3:13 .m. for driving while intoxicated.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated five recent property-damage crashes.

• At 9:11 p.m. on Sunday, Michael A. Williams, 56, Reelsville, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 2009 Ford Flex when a vehicle in front of him suddenly applied its brakes.

Williams changed lanes to go around the other vehicle before seeing a deer in the road and hitting it.

Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 4:34 p.m. on Sunday, Anthony A. Billings, 32, Cloverdale, was westbound on County Road 300 South in a 2007 Toyota Sienna when he went left of center and hit a mailbox.

Billings told Deputy Bobby Boyd he looked down for a second and when he looked back up, he was driving into the mailbox and some landscaping. The vehicle then crossed back over the road and came to rest on the north side.

There were four occupants of the vehicle and both Billings and a juvenile female were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The car was towed. Boyd estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

•At 5:36 a.m. on Saturday, Bradley D. Williams, 45, Greencastle, was westbound on State Road 236 near County Road 525 East in a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox when a deer ran into the passenger side.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Randy Patrick estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

•At 3:15 p.m. on Friday, James E. Neumann, 54, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 just past County Road 800 South when a large plastic kid’s toy blew out of the back of his 2011 Dodge Dakota.

Sarah L. Barnett, 22, Martinsville, also northbound in a 2017 Hyundai Elantra, braked rapidly to avoid hitting the toy. Though she did not hit the toy, Barnett was rear-ended by Jill B. Ash, 63, Encinitas, Calif, who was following behind her.

The two rear vehicles were towed, while Neumann’s was not directly involved in the crash.

Deputy Matt Biggs estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to eight recent dispatches:

• At 6:02 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 504 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:06 and determined that the alarm was caused by marijuana smoke. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 6:12 p.m.

• At 2:24 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:30 but could not determine the cause of the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 2:41 a.m.

• At 2:38 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 16 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:41 but were unable to determine the cause of the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 2:44 p.m.

• At 5:59 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a mulch fire at 17 S. Indiana St. Firefighters arrived at about 6 p.m. and quickly put out the fire. GFD returned to station at 6:03 p.m.

• At 9:53 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 311 S. Locust St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:56 and determined that the alarm was caused by a smoke machine. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 10:23 p.m.

• At 12:22 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a box alarm for a structure fire at 4661 E. County Rd. 700 S. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 12:39 and assisted the Cloverdale Township, Jefferson Township, Reelsville, Fillmore, Floyd Township, Madison Township and Putnamville Correctional Facility fire departments with putting out the blaze. GFD also assisted with salvage and overhaul. GFD returned to station at 2:19 a.m.

• At 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 12 W. County Rd. 300 S. Units arrived on the scene at 4:45 and performed cleanup of the roadway. GFD returned to station at 5:07 p.m.

• At 1:14 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire complaint at 415 Anderson St. Units arrived at 1:21 to find a recreational fire that was not called in. GFD put out the fire and returned to station at 1:35 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed four medical assists and had one disregard during this time.
