James W. 'Jim' Jones

James W. "Jim" Jones, 76, Greencastle, passed away Wednesday evening, May 22, 2019 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Coatesville on Feb. 19, 1943, the son of Wilbur and Frances I. Wallace Jones.

He was a 1961 graduate of Amo High School where he was a star athlete.

He was a guard on the basketball team and led his team to victory over Plainfield in the 1958 sectional. He is listed as a high scorer in Indiana basketball history.

He had worked for IBM in Greencastle and then worked many years for the labor union before his retirement.

He was an avid Indiana University fan. He loved fishing, horseshoes, playing the lottery, crosswords, John Wayne westerns, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.

He is survived by his children, Jeff Jones, Decatur, Ga., Jimmy (Alicia) Jones, Hampton, Ga., Joseph (Ashley) Jones, Cloverdale, and Jennelle (Adam) Smith, Greencastle; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers John Jones, Greencastle, and Joe (Susan) Jones, Coatesville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25 at Bousley Funeral Home, Coatesville, with calling from noon until time of service.

Private family burial will be in the Coatesville Cemetery.
