Jerving - 40th Anniversary

Friday, May 24, 2019

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Jerving celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on May 19, 2019.

Patty is the former Patty Tellas of Reelsville. Patty tasted lobster for the very first time on their honeymoon in 1979 and a lobster dinner has been a tradition for every anniversary. This year they enjoyed a bottle of imported champagne from France as well.

They have lived in Milwaukee, Wis., since the wedding.

They finally were able to buy a house in 2004 and Doug has been hard at work improving the dwelling and property.

Doug and Patty are very proud of their seven children and 11 grandchildren. Patty also acknowledges several stepgrandchildren and even a few step-great-grandchildren.

“Family is family, even if not all are my blood relatives,” she said. She loves them all.

Recently one Jerving son fulfilled a lifelong dream and graduated from the Milwaukee Police Academy. Peter has been training in the field as a police officer in the same district where his parents live.

Doug has been pursuing an education in financial risk management so he can retire from his job as a machine maintenance technician and work only part time.

Patty continues to write and also to work on handicrafts since finishing homeschooling those seven children.

Both look forward to a quiet retirement together with the five cats they rescued from their own alley over the past few years.
