With class president Mary Timm pointing out that “100 different paths” got North Putnam graduates to Saturday’s commencement, her classmates display those paths, from loafers of Marcus Burdine to the “well-loved” work boots of Blake Boyer and the colorful heels of Kayla Bray and Emma Blanford thrown in for good measure.

As the last 2019 graduate at North Putnam, Bella Zarate (above left) had quite a wait to hear her name called. Principal Jason Chew pointed out that as part of the 50th graduating at North Putnam, the 5,555th graduate walked across the stage at the high school.

If we establish that 1970 was Year 1 for North Putnam (not Year 0), then 10 years later in 1980, it would have been Year 11 (because 1+10=11).
Therefore, 1990 would have been Year 21, 2000 would have been Year 31, 2010 was year 41 and 2020 will be year 51.
So the math tells us that this was the 50th graduating class of North Putnam High School, because it has been 49 years since Year 1 and 1+49=50.
