Harold ‘Doc’ Power

Harold “Doc” Power, 94, of North Salem, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

He was born April 1, 1925 in Indianapolis, son of the late James W. and Edith (Grimes) Power.

He was a member of Indiana Murat Shrine, the Masons, the American Legion of North Salem and Jamestown and the Ohio State Alumni Association.

Doc enjoyed working on his farm and watching college football games.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and his DVM from Ohio State. He owned the North Salem Veterinary Clinic for more than 50 years.

He served his country in the Navy during World War II and in the Marines in Korea.

He is survived by his wife Darlene Power; sons David (Kim) Power and Dan (Joy) Power; daughter Connie Power; grandsons Scott (Megan) Power, Sam (Megan) Power and Alan Chadwick; granddaughters, Madeline Power, Martha Power, Lily Power and Emma Power; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Nita Power, son James Power and sister Betty Deacon.

A memorial service will be held at the North Salem United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1. Doc will be laid to rest in the Fairview Cemetery.
