James Robert Wasson

James Robert Wasson, 71, of Marshall, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 in Franciscan Hospice House of Indianapolis.

He was born September 22, 1947 in Clinton, son of William Leonard Wasson and June (Morgan) Wasson.

He graduated from Turkey Run High School in 1965 and also graduated from Indiana State University with a B.A. in education and received his master’s from IUPUI in 1970.

He taught science in the Seymour school system for 10 years then returned to the family farm in 1980 and began farming and taught at South Putnam High School for the next 35 years.

He enjoyed coaching football his entire teaching career. He had many interests, including golf, fishing, gardening, being an avid reader of history and astronomy and taking vacations with his family.

James proudly served on the Parke County Veterans Honor Guard.

James is survived by his wife Constance (Wells) Wasson, whom he married in 1968; two sons, William Robert Wasson (Jason Burnham) of Indianapolis and Neil A. (Faith) Wasson of Shelbyville; granddaughter Fraya Wasson; one sister, Carol (Dan) West of Rockville; and two nieces, Beth Rukes and Stefanie Bedworth.

Memorial visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at Butler Funeral Home, 218 N. College St. Rockville. James Robert has requested cremation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 1752. Envelopes will be available during visitation.
