County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Monday.

• At 6:24 p.m. Gary Lee Nolan Jr., 31, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a Marion County warrant.

• At 10:30 a.m. Devannair Daquince Gee, 31, Beech Grove, was housed at the jail for trafficking with an inmate.

City Police

A recent traffic stop on Washington Street near Indianapolis Road resulted in one arrest as well as a ticket.

At 10:38 p.m. on Sunday, Officer Alec Pettit arrested Gregory Hazlett, 37, Greencastle, on a Putnam County warrant for causing a serious bodily injury while operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II substance in body.

Additionally, during the stop, Pettit found that Samantha Duncan, 33, Greencastle, was in possession of a legend drug, issuing a citation for the offense.

GPD officers made a pair of other recent arrests.

• At 11:15 a.m. on Monday, Maria VonTagen, 43, Greencastle, was taken into custody by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Arrested at Beyond Homeless for possession of methamphetamine, VonTagen was lodged at the Putnam County Jail.

• At 4:20 .m. on Sunday, Michael Vance, 28, Greencastle, was taken into custody by Officer Elsiana Crosby.

Arrested at a Judson Court residence, Vance was booked in the Putnam County Jail on a local warrant for theft.

City officers also issued three recent citations.

• At 9:59 p.m. on Saturday, Officer Luke Brown stopped Lora Pingleton, 55, Greencastle on College Avenue near Columbia Street.

Pingleton was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Officer Brad Hiatt stopped Kenneth Sargent, 24, Greencastle, on East Franklin Street.

Sargent was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction and driving without financial responsibility.

• At 9:59 p.m. on Saturday, Alec Pettit cited Brittany Garo, 20, Greencastle, for being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 3:53 a.m. on Thursday, Kale A. Walker, 23, Terre Haute, was northbound on County Road 275 East entering a 90-degree turn in a 2002 Buick Century.

Deputy Daniel Birt observed that the car left the road midway through the turn, damaging a fence made of rail timbers.

Walker told Birt the tires were low on tread and he lost traction on the wet road.

A private wrecker was called to remove the car from the yard.

Birt estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three recent dispatches:

• At 1:11 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a call for phone lines down near the Putnam County Playhouse. Units arrived on the scene at 1:19 and found that the pole supporting the lines had been broken. Phone services were called to the scene, and GFD went back into service at 1:22 p.m.

• At 6:06 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to the Speedway East gas station to clean up a small gasoline spill. Units arrived at 6:10 and found that the spill came from an old barrel and was less than a gallon. The spill was cleaned with oil dry, and GFD went back into service at 6:34 p.m.

• At 8:55 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 1016 Shadowlawn Ave. Units arrived on the scene at 9:03 a.m. and cleaned debris from the roadway, as well as assisted with patient care. GFD went back into service at 9:32 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed one medical assist and had one disregard during this time.
